FAQ -Frequently Asked Questions
Q - Why should I use AVS (address verification service) to help prevent fraud?
A - You should require purchasers to provide the billing address of their payment card, along with the card number. When they submit the order, software compares the billing address of the credit card on record with the address the purchaser supplies. If there's not a match, the purchaser should get another chance to enter the correct address. If they try again, and there still isn't a match, then you should decline the purchase and call the purchaser.
Q - Why should I require purchasers to input the CVV2 number on their card (card verification value 2)?
A - On the back of VISA and MasterCard cards is a three digit number that you should require purchasers to provide. The purchaser will need to have the card to see the CVV2 number so that means they didn't just happen on a credit card number. When they submit the order, software compares the CVV2 number of the credit card on record with the CVV2 number the purchaser supplies. If there's not a match, the purchaser should get another chance to enter the correct number. If they try again, and there still isn't a match, then you should decline the purchase and call the purchaser.
Q - Are there other anti-fraud screens in addition to AVS and CVV2?
A - Yes, with the VeloCT gateway Fraud Barricade option, you can customize the following anti-fraud filters:
- Add any transaction detail to a negative database to prevent particular individuals from re-purchasing
- Block transactions from anonymous servers and e-mail domains
- Block transactions from countries known to have a high rate of fraud activity
- Filter out individuals with profane or suspicious customer information
- Reject transactions when e-mail addresses can't be verified
- Limit the number of times a customer's credit card can be declined in a given time period
- Restrict customers from placing too many orders or too much money on one credit card
- Limit subscription memberships to prevent repeat access to free or discounted trials
- Set a maximum credit limit per card to protect from charge backs
- Ask for a warning whenever a transaction exceeds a desired amount
- Block hackers by ensuring all order information matches your own data
- Verify names and addresses through a United States Postal Service database
Q - How do I view transactions in real-time?
A - If you have the FastTransact VeloCT gateway that I recommend:
- logon to your account
- from the selections in the left-side column, under ‘Real-time monitor,’ click ’24-hr. transactions’
Q - Can I use my existing shopping cart?
A - I'd say chances are pretty good that you can keep your current shopping cart
since the VeloCT gateway integrates with most major carts. Let me know that name of your shopping cart and I will check.
Q - What Paperwork Will I Need?
A -
- Three months of merchant account statements for existing business
- USA driver’s license
- Voided business check
- After reviewing your application, you asked for other documentation like bank statements.
If you have an unlisted question, without a doubt, others will have the same question, so let me know and I will add it to this list.
